PICTURE OF BOB CARROLL

There is a very dark, disturbing side of the Roberts  Group.  It's bad enough that Jim Roberts teaches his disciples to loathe all of humanity except their own, not to have contact with their families, not to seek medical attention, not to bury the dead, and not to have children, for the end of the world is at hand, but Roberts is unmerciful when it comes to excommunicating members from the group.

Members are excommunicated for a number of reasons.  Most have to do with disagreements with the elder.  Members are commonly excommunicated if they have any kind of physical or emotional problems.  They are abandoned or told to go to another city, never to meet up with the group again.  Roberts only tolerates perfection and total acceptance of his word.   There is no tolerance for people with problems of any kind,  or people with ideas that oppose the elder.

This creates a most disturbing problem with those members who find it hard living in the world away from the group.  They've, in many cases, spent their entire adult lives living in the shadows of life with the group.  Now, left on their own, a whole new world of problems  is created.  Existing away from the group is too much for some of the members to bear.  They wander mindlessly brainwashed from their years in the group, unable to find a place in life, because the group has crippled them emotionally and intellectually.  They can't go back to the group, and they can't find their way home.  The Roberts group has isolated them forever.

We've chosen here to tell the story of one such brother .
