This is my response to an e-mail I got from a member (LaszloZW@ix.netcom.com) regarding my posting of the Hyo Jin Article (Boston Globe) in the alt.religion.unification newsgroup:

Hi Las!
Do I detect a slight sense of animosity there? What ever happened to "love your enemy" and "true, unconditional love"? Doesn't "Father" teach you to "love Cain"? Seems like you're becoming just like him - if someone disagrees and exposes what he's really doing ...he withdraws his "unconditional love" and slams him as an evil dissenter.

Peculiar how that's the only response UC members can come up with "the only reason you must be doing this for is to justify yourself (your leaving)!"

Sorry, I don't buy it. I don't need to justify myself. I'm quite at peace with my decision to leave the church - once I found out that it's a big scam and that Moon is a false Messiah who not only contradicts Jesus and the Bible but also himself and his own teachings (apart from the fact that the "parallels of history" which "prove" Moon's Messiahship are both historically and biblically incorrect). But it seems that with your attitude you wouldn't even budge if I could prove that to you.
What I feel I DO need to do is to speak out about the TRUTH of what's really going on in the church since there are so many UC members and leaders who, like you, twist and cover it up, purposely or out of ignorance.
My experience is valid and I have a right to speak out about it. I experienced the abuse and deception in the UC. You can't tell me it doesn't exist. I saw Moon abuse members. I was abused by my leaders. I had a partial lung collapse and almost died because one of them pushed me against the sharp edge of a wall... and I saw other members being beaten up by him and other leaders. I was part of the manipulation schemes to prevent new recruits from being contacted or taken back by their families (= "invaded by satan").

I speak out because I HATE injustice and unrighteousness - as it is being legitimatized and practiced by Moon and the UC. I know your experience may be different if you're a home member or on the peripherals of the movement ...but I also know what's REALLY going on in the upper leadership, since I was working closely with them as top fundraiser and recruiter of region 5. (I worked closely with the state and regional CARP leaders of both the midwest and New York.)

If I'm using strong language it's because I'm angry about the unspeakable injustice of Moon getting away with manipulating and controlling, abusing and exploiting his members - as even his own daughter stated in a public denunciation she recently made (which of course you'll deny as well).

...so that's your attitude? You can do whatever you want ...to whomever? You apparently don't understand the fundamental concept of freedom espoused even by the founding fathers of this country that it does NOT include the right to infringe on the freedom of others. THAT is licensiousness and abuse ...exactly what Moon is doing. You're in line, it seems. ...

Mental health professionals are forced to assume responsibility for psychological damage they produce or promises they don't fulfill - but how is your group taking responsibility? Is your organization going to pay for my doctor's bills I had to pay as a result of being mistreated and used in the UC ...where I worked for free 20 hours a day ...without even getting health insurance? Will you compensate me for my health problems I've been having as result of being exploited by the church - like my back and neck pains from carrying a 20 lbs backpack full of metal pictures for YEARS, my headaches, my varicous venes from being on my feet without a rest 20 hours a day for 6 1/2 years??? Is the church going to pay for the counseling I and many other former members need to receive to recuperate from the mental abuse??? It SHOULD! If they're screwing up people's minds ...they should be liable and pay for it! Just as mental health facilities do when they mess up! But all that cults like the UC have to do is to simply discredit former members and hide behind "religious freedom" or "oh, that's religious persecution!" in order to get away with it! THAT's not right! It STINKS, actually!

Ingo

PS: By the way: What's your specific criticism? Do you deny Hyo Jin Nim's being in court for breaking parole and his admitting his drug problem as the Boston Globe published? How come you don't respond directly to the article? Afraid it might be true?
